Our Rescues Past and Present
Willow and Aspen
Spirit, Juliette and Hope were taken in by Spiritwind Horse Rescue due to neglect, illness and starvation, both were adopted. Hope has remained with us and was adopted by her foster mom.
Alkor to the right is a registered Arab, he came to Spiritwind with extremely bad founder, he was at a point where we thought we were going to have to euthanize him. However the fighter that he is he is now getting over the damage and has special shoes to make his life more comfortable. Alikor is around 23 years old, the sweetest boy you could ever meet and will remain with Spiritwind for the rest of his days.
Below Alikor is BonBon, she was relinquished by her owner due to health problems. BonBon has never been trained but has come along way, she would make a great companion horse to the right owner. She is a beautiful 23 year old strawberry roan with a big heart.
Below is Duchess, a 13 year old registered thoroghbred, due to her owner having to move she came to Spiritwind. Duchess has been a jumper in the past but unfortunately this has been her undoing, she now has back problems which we are working on with acupuncture to get her back to a point where she can be used for short trail rides, she is extremely well behaved and a people horse for sure.
Joseph the Donkey was BonBon's companion for many years, he came to Spiritwind with BonBon but was adopted shortly after by our volunteer Debbie, now he lives the life of luxury and is a very happy boy.
Below Joseph is Spirit, Spirit is a 14 year old Appie gelding, he was confiscated by local law enforcement due to the fact that he was living in a junkyard, no food, as was emaciated. Spiritwind took him in and he was adopted out to a local rancher. Due to change of circumstances Spirit is now coming back into the fold, he is well trained, broke and a strong boy who loves trail rides. We may have to keep this boy unless a perfect home comes up.
